Northfield Rotarians were their own movers and shakers last week when they packed up supplies and relocated storage items to their new meeting venue at the Paine Mountain Brewing Company on East Street. The Rotary will continue to meet on Wednesday evenings at the new location.

Earlier in the week, a group of Rotary, Roteract and Interact members shared Tanzanian food at a dinner presentation at Norwich about the ongoing project in Pommerin, Tanzania, building an orphanage and and vocational center for 16 students. The Norwich Roteract club has been spearheading this project for several years, working with the local village’s own organization, Upendo Mmoja (One Love.)

The next team from Northfield will be going there in July for a barn-raising. The team will include six Interact members (the middle high school division of Rotary), six Roteract members (the college division), and three Rotarians. Learn more about the work that is happening in Tanzania by visiting the organization’s Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/UpendoMmoja.

On November 4, the Rotary hosted its annual Veteran’s Dinner, sharing an evening with guests from the Veteran’s Place. Coming events in December include the annual Senior Christmas Dinner on December 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Comiskey School, a work meeting (board and committee meetings) on December 10, and the annual in-house holiday party on December 17.

Regular meetings will resume on January 7.
